SO THAT WAS THE UNIVERSITY THAT WAS
Horrifying pollution. A disease, a tumour, a cancer in the University: medicine, killing healthy tissue.
Other such ‘hysterical’ and ‘irrational’ judgements.
Like looking at bacteria in a Petri dish was another good one
The enemies of everything the University stands for.
Geeez, perhaps the Committee of Vice-Chancellors would like to tell me how I’m wrong
The universities exist for the pursuit of truth and academic excellence, yes?
Or of course not. Or they exist to teach trades to the dead from the neck up?
People with strong beliefs think they are true, Marxists, Muslims, atheists, Taoists. That’s one thing.
It is sometimes conflated with but is in fact distinct from the conviction that one possesses Truth being used to shut down all debate, criticism, argument and indeed derision. The Truth is known. Nothing more may be, need be, should be, can be said.
According to these mongols vast swathes of human experience are out of bounds, beliefs that have affected millions of lives and changed the course of history may not be subject to independent scrutiny but must be looked at ‘respectfully’ from one’s knees, holding at the forefront of one’s mind all the time that what seems to be a load of hooey and ape-shit is actually Truth. This of course extends to personalities. The characters of Jesus and Mohammed are off-limits.
Clearly this works on both sides of the religious debate: an atheist needs to be as able to comment intelligently on the murderous history of communist countries as much as a religious person needs to be able to comment intelligently on the murderous history of religion. Who am I? What am I? Why are you reading my slogan? Why are people in the grip of an idea so enthusiastic about killing other people?
In both cases comment intelligently on as opposed to repeat. The musical accompaniment to this statement is at the end of this offering.
You are perfectly at liberty to call Jesus a shit and indeed he could be distinctly rude.
However, you will find it quite hard going to prove it, since our definitions of
non-shittiness are largely derived from his teachings: by the time you have contemplated
those blasted motes and beams, judged not that ye be not judged, let your yea be yea and
your nay be nay, spake openly, and loved your neighbour as yourself, with bonus points
for loving your enemy and praying for them who despitefully use you, you are being
decidedly non-shitty, though you may also be dead, since your enemies will not
necessarily have the courtesy to appreciate you.
The goons intellectually corrupted by addressing woodentop slave-sluts continue to
jabber that faith instils morality and so absence of faith has led to moral decline but
England never had much in the way of faith; clearly what has actually changed is the
absence of teaching Jesus' ethics.
...
Either Jesus or the gospel-writers had an advanced sense of humour. A man who says that
he regards the Law as sacrosanct and then goes straight on to tear it up, gosh, folks, in
olden times it used to be said, but I'm telling you something completely different, a man
with his clearly stated views on scribes and Pharisees who says he's dining with publicans
and sinners because they need him and the holy folks don't, is a man with a sense of
humour. He spent a great deal of his 'Ministry' pushing it and surviving on his wits.
The doleful, narrow, vindictive, power-crazed and in short tacky would probably not wish
these two propositions together in the same galaxy, never mind the same blog post. Gee,
guys, life can be tough.
http://www.dillsplace.com/jesus.html
DEAR POPE BENEDICT, YOU WISH TO DESTROY CHRISTIANITY?You are an agent of International Marxism, then, and your attack-dogs seek to destroy Christianity in England? I think perhaps a second Reformation may be in order or perhaps a second Enlightenment? Something between the two. You do seem to be rather pre-Reformation here. People can read. In a world in which conspicuously faith is the source of torture and death, how are we supposed to react, other than by pealing with laughter? Where shall I start?
Jesus understood that people who claim to love God will refuse love to their fellow-humans on the grounds that is the will of God unless they are also clearly instructed that the refusal of love to their fellow-humans isn't on the menu.
The working of love in erasing the incessant demands of the self is entirely clear to most normal people, anyone who has nursed a sick child or an aged relative, forgotten the misdeeds of an erring friend or partner; that which may in certain states of consciousness nag and niggle simply ceases to matter, becomes absent, no longer exists.
How faith achieves this is not similarly clear. What is clear is that what people of faith decide is the will of God may be an enshrining as divine will of those incessant demands, an insistence they alone matter.
I gather that, at least in Dante's time, sin was defined as wrongly directed love, love directed to the self, instead of to its proper objects, first God, then others, based on the Augustinian premiss that evil is itself nothing, only a parody of love, which is all.
If one loves God with all one's heart, soul, strength, it is hard to see what love remains for others. Must one not, therefore, regard loving others as synonymous with loving God? If the teachings of the Church appear to require not loving certain defined groups of others, then loving God cannot be thus synonymous.
May it not therefore be said that it is actually more important to direct love to others, love which is evidently not directed to the self, than to direct to God a love which is morally ambivalent?
That at least has been the decision of the best of the West. Loving one's neighbour as oneself demands one does not force one's questionable views on him or her, therefore loving God must be optional.
Jesus, Son of Man, Son of God, Kabbalist, Sufi, realizing his Buddha-nature, Brahma, whatever. 'I am God,' claimed the Sufi al-Hallaj, rather a long time ago; as you of course know mysticism cannot be claimed a modern or liberal error. He too was crucified. Alternative perspectives of Jesus in the West once were simple. Either he was a dashed good chap, one of the great ethical teachers of the world, but not of course God, or he was simply a lunatic. We place this man you call God in the context of world-thought and he looks different. This is a dilemma for you distinct from a simple atheist claim that he was not divine. This invades your territory, saying he was divine, as we all are. The Information Age in free societies enables circulation of the alternative notion he was a towering religious figure, but not your towering religious figure. Alternative paths to beauty, awe, wonder the transcendent from those who have no faith, those who are 'deeply religious non-believers', as Einstein styled himself, as Professor Dawkins begins by saying, equally invade your territory. The perspective of science is not limited to the existence of this one planet, this one galaxy or even this one universe. The beauty, strangeness, size and scope of reality dazzle those who contemplate them and engender intellectual transcendence, humility, for however much we know we do not and cannot know it all. The mental landscape has changed beyond recognition. There are no recognizable and positive
landmarks for you, only those you describe as heresy, incredulity, apostasy, evil.
Clearly too A-grades in science and maths indicate nothing in terms of whether an adolescent is university material, is fit for the company of civilized human beings.
Because they have no minds, are damaged goods (it is practically impossible to believe Ardeshna went to Cambridge: at the bottom of which dark mire deep in the Fens did he exist there?), they have no intellectual curiosity. Nothing moves between the ears interesting them and exciting them in ideas, in what other people have or might have thought about this life thing in 20000 years or so of history (the Lascaux caves seem as good a place to start as any), in the vastly different views people have held within any one belief-system.
Thus I found myself in a nightmare having assumed that doctors were normal educated intelligent people who question things and enjoy intelligent discussion.
Not one word has been said about any of this by creatures, hard to call them human beings, let alone doctors and nurses, whose unswerving, unyielding response to challenge is wordless mindless attempt to beat and terrorize me into submission. They’re a farce, a mad sick joke at the University’s expense, all fact and reason surrendered instantly to Authority, to what some psychotic animal they deem important, not to mention omniscient, says are fact and reason. The psychopath may not be lying. It may not be faulty in its reasoning or misinformed, its premisses may not be erroneous; it is regarded as without flaw and any challenge to it silly and evil; naturally no sick animal who thinks other people are its property, body and mind, can be wrong or evil. Nothing sways them.. They are of course also morally diseased. What, dear Committee of Vice-Chancellors, do you make of ‘doctors’ who watched the physical abuse of a woman who has had major spinal surgery, such that I became crippled, did nothing, said nothing, continued to do and say nothing while I got more and more disabled. What does any sane normal human being make of them?
The whole meticulous apparatus by which science establishes fact or at least that which is probably true, sufficiently probably true to be if not relied upon then at least used in other research, is meaningless to them outside their work. Master said. Authority said.
There is no point in presenting fact to these joke academics. It conflicts with what Authority has told them and is dismissed as lies. The notion of research to seek clarification does not occur to them. There is no point of course in wading into the shallows of philosophy and attempting to ascertain the criteria by which they judge their beliefs to be fact. In a book, innit. I mean, for heaven’s sake a book can’t lie, and never mind the many other books which state the contrary. Where the book is held to be divinely inspired, that is supposed to settle it and settles nothing.
They probably believe the French Revolution couldn’t have happened because the Church wouldn’t have allowed it. Probably believe in heaven and hell, or else, being haw-haw scientists, they personally don’t but of course ‘everyone else’ does and one has respect that. Why their version of the after-life, in which ‘everyone else’ does not believe, should in a realm of pure speculation in which my view, the view of a Tokyo commuter, the view of a sadhu in Uttar Pradesh, the view of a nurse in Kampala, the view of the man on the Clapham omnibus are equally works of the imagination, be the correct one is of course not explained.
‘Everyone else’ means the people they grew up with in whatever sewer they grew up in.
Severed, in Mr Pullman’s delightful word. The capacity for independent thought eradicated, like snipping the balls off a puppy. Independent thought is evil and you’ll go to hell if you engage in it. Unfortunately independent thought is what the University is for. It is pointless to tell them, as it is pointless to tell them everything else, that I am a graduate of the University of London and supposed to be able to think independently; it’s what I was educated to do, arrive at my own view. They snigger, smirk, yawn.
There is an app called Panda Pop. An evil baboon has trapped panda cubs in different coloured bubbles (unsurprisingly, the reason for this, and for that matter the mechanism, not to mention the zoology, are not given) and your task is to help Mama Panda release them. If you fail, the baboon chortles and snickers evilly. That’s Whelan.
On the other hand, if you succeed, the panda cubs jump up and down on the baboon and pull his ears. I can dream!
The foetid vile slobbering animal of nurses are of course in the same mould with their worthless joke degrees for talking-monkeys. Who decided nurses should have degrees, if not doctors. Well I mean, they’re doctors, aren’t they, capable of judging. Not.
Oh, how they hate Dust and the University is Dust and the clouds Zeus gathers are yet more Dust. Yes, of course the University is other, more prosaic things and even subversion and decadence parties, though it must be admitted that, although my boyfriend of the time and I dressed for the occasion, we never actually reached the party. Consequently no pics available. Sorry.
No Dust, no University.
Severed. Dust is evil. Dust is to be eliminated. Consequently every dead-head of any religion or none in London on my back, not so to speak. Whatever pushes the buttons of the hearer, of course, different lies for different people, confident there will be no open examination of the facts. I think it's called Chinese whispers.
No Dust, no liberty. With Dust, freedom and democracy; no Dust, fascism and slavery.
This is about what people are, which I said if not on Day One then on Day Two:
The world's ideologies divide into cultures of the outside and cultures of the inside. A culture of the outside holds that the individual is moulded by the external world and so is both victim and slave - to environment, to fellow-humans, to self - is a hollow gourd or empty shell to be filled with the Beloved Leader's version of reality. Where no determined State attempts at brain-washing occur, the hollow gourd is merely a passive recipient of fate, a creature of instinct, to whom responsibility is meaningless. A culture of the inside holds that the individual has a central processing unit (CPU) otherwise known as mind that analyses the external world and forms himself or herself and so his or her own views from the results of this analysis, is capable of choice. Where there is no CPU, nothing inside to form oneself with, the opinions and reactions of others are defining and must therefore be controlled or censored. This underpins Orwell's 'Freedom is Slavery' and Marcuse's 'repressive tolerance'. You have no means of handling words that displease you. They therefore oppress you.
This has implications that have wholly corroded society. Firstly there is the victim culture. Since nothing is your fault, you are the product of socio-economic forces, it is wrong to deride, criticize, censure, abuse you if you behave like a piece of vomit. Secondly, what others see as intellectual corruption and social engineering is not understood as wrong – it’s only the socio-economic circumstances into which you were born that prevented you excelling academically, everyone is just as bright as everyone else, and having failed five CSEs in no way indicates that you are not just as good as someone who achieved an Honours degree. Thirdly, the censorious proliferate.
The root of this is the Marxist-materialist religion of apeism. There were ten green bottles hanging on the wall and if one green bottle should accidentally fall…Actually there were seven green bottles. Art, literature, language, history, philosophy, liberty and theology, and holding them on the wall was mind. Then one day behind the useful idiots a group of evil men removed the lynch-pin that there be no green bottles hanging on the wall and we all have to act like and think like and obey like intelligent chimps instead of being humans.
Liberty is a human concept and most of our problems with it stem from the primate elements in the brain. The most elementary of these evolutionary hang-ups is the primate pecking order. A larger more powerful ape beats his chest and otherwise suggests his displeasure and the unconscious thinker toes the line. Only might is right. The mental development of individual humans starts where physical evolution ends. Obsession with form, external appearance, is another evolutionary hang-up. As a chimp recoils at the shape of a snake, so racists and sexists respond to colour or gender. Elements on the Left are equally hypnotised by biology. Where individual characteristics such as honesty, integrity, intellect, application - qualities of mind - have been abandoned as 'elitist' or 'relative values', all that remains is the nonsense that the most insignificant of human attributes, gender and race, are defining.
Mind is supposed not to exist and recourse to fact and reason is rejected as elitist. The West is therefore supposed to lie defenceless in what is essentially a mind-game: mind, fact and reason do not stop existing because traitors say they do; the trick is persuade (by force or otherwise) the majority of people to a mind-set from which mind, fact and reason are absent. In particular they should not allude to the facts of democracy and civil liberties; since mind does not exist, the ability to make up one’s mind cannot exist, let alone the right to do so and, Homo sapiens sapiens being in its raw state before its mind has been kicked into working a self-centred little sod, people cannot be expected to consider another’s point of view and so accept another’s equal right to speak.
Manifestations of heart or mind transcending the hard wiring - ethical or intellectual standards - are dismissed as elitist, the benchmark being set by the Inner Ape. Standards of behaviour in public have been cast off as some tyrannical yoke imposed from without when they are what may be expected to arise naturally from within. A fit young man who is compos mentis might reasonably be expected to see the woman with two toddlers has a greater need for his seat than he.
We are all born squawly little hairless chimps. We are also all born with a mind and a capacity for love. We are all born with the capacity to over-ride the hard-wiring. We are not all born brilliant but we can still empathize and it is empathy with others that demands we give them equal rights.
Choice is an artefact of mind. If mind does not exist, then democracy is unnecessary. A rigid materialism lies at the root of the Left’s trampling on liberty. They don’t see it as something they despise. They see it as something that doesn’t exist. Freedom in leftist literature is defined in terms of economics. The Left is also of course hot on sexual freedom. Mental freedom comes nowhere.
Instead of looking at ‘human’ and forming their theory based on observation (the methodology of the humanities), they look at a molecule and decide what ‘human’ must be. Intellectually dishonest is pretending the only alternative position is religion. They call themselves humanists. I’m a humanist. They’re apeists.
Leftist educationalists have canonized
The naked ape’s terminal self-centredness which should not be corrected
The naked ape’s capacity to form delusional mind-constructs, which should not be tested against reality
In short there has been an assault on being human.
A generation has grown up or maybe two not educated to have any fixed points of reference, moral or intellectual, outside the self. They have never had their minds stretched or been made to clarify what they think and why they think it, test their views against fact and reason, which are meaningless to them, as are the separateness of others and of course the equal rights of others.
To suggest something awry with these generations, to require any moral or intellectual standards, to expect some minimum standard of conduct or performance is to be ‘elitist’ and subject to abuse and outrage. To indicate the source of the nonsense is to be dangerous.
People are accustomed to believe, and have been encouraged in the belief by some who aspire to the character of philosophers, that their feelings, on subjects of this nature, are better than reasons, and render reasons unnecessary. The practical principle which guides them to their opinions on the regulation of human conduct is that feeling in each person’s mind that everybody should be required to act as he, and those with whom he sympathizes, would like them to act.
JS Mill, On Liberty
Sure, it’s not only Taoists, Sufis and Discordians who have some idea how people work.
All silencing of discussion is an assumption of infallibility. Its condemnation may be allowed to rest on this common argument, not the worse for being common….few think it necessary to take any precautions against their own fallibility, or admit the supposition that any opinion, of which they feel very certain, may be one of the examples of the error in which they admit themselves to be fallible…People more happily situated…place the same unbounded reliance only on such of their opinions as are shared by all who surround them, or to whom they habitually defer; for in proportion to man’s want of confidence in his own solitary judgement, does he usually repose, with implicit trust, in the infallibility of ‘the world’ in general. And the world, to each individual, means the part of it with which he comes in contact; his party, his sect, his church, his class of society…Nor is his faith in this collective authority at all shaken by his being aware that other ages, countries, sects, churches, classes and parties, have thought and even now think the exact reverse….it never troubles him that mere accident has decided which of these numerous worlds is the object of his reliance, and that the same causes which made him a Churchman in London would have made him a Buddhist or Confucian in Pekin.

The injured innocence of the bone-idle is particularly good. Nothing wrong with me. I got my rights. The rights they trumpet are not real rights: real rights end where someone else's rights begin. The entirely appropriate - I at least appropriate it - response to being pushed around - hey man, off my cloud! - has been transmuted into a charter for messing others around. Where self is all, the crime-rate rises with the surrender to the urge to mug, maim or rape and utter contempt for the rights of the victim. Fake notions of 'free' abound, dictated by self. There is nothing super-cool about being an airhead or any other kind of head and no-one slave to the next orgasm and the next high (both the ultimates in self-obsession when there is a busy buzzing world out there to be discovered) is truly mentally free.
The university has been remodelled as the source of vocational training certificates for those who have never come across a new idea, do not want to come across new ideas, and don't think anyone else should, either. In part, of course, the hatred of thinking, questioning, arguing, comes from their brute illiteracy. They are incapable of dealing with the written word, cannot expound ideas they uphold let alone argue against ideas they dislike. They are disempowered. They may be intelligent. Any intellectual potential they possess goes unrealized. Unless you are able to express what you think you think in writing, your thought remains fuzzy, that, no matter how interesting what you have to say, what new discovery you have to share with the world, it might as well not exist unless you can accurately and clearly convey it to fellow-humans.
If no-one may criticize the stupid, idle, illiterate, ignorant, vicious, sad, bigoted, incompetent who deny freedom of speech to others, the consequence is governance according to their lights. We approach therefore the world in which the only voices that may be heard are those of the stupid, ignorant, vicious, sad, bigoted, illiterate, idle, incompetent, self-important, power-crazed and merely mad who deny freedom of speech to others, for no-one may tell them to butt out, stop screwing up, go away and read up on what the hell they’re talking about before they open their mouths. The Official Lie is of course grounded in the notion that having your backside kicked will scar and traumatize you for life, that what you are is fixed, you are incapable of changing yourself but become what you are told you are if you weren’t it to start with, which you probably were.

No, my bottom line is not please believe me, it's not even please do some reading up and checking of fact to confirm what I say. It's OK, guys, let's just have every relevant fact on the table, out in the open and then everyone can see what it all looks like.
Can't be done. From this I conclude a large number of people are lying through their teeth.
How therefore they all flawlessly did and do what Beijing wants them to, unflinchingly, unyieldingly, without a bloody backward glance, no, not even in spite of being told by me, but because none of them has a single normal, free, democratic bone in his or her body, because they are bloody psychotic, feral, animal, assuming the bloody world revolves around them, assuming anything they don't like may be physically suppressed, that is normality.
Ignorance and stupidity don't make them evil, though they help; the evil lies in the bestiality, the psychosis, the frank terrorism and of course the lunacy.
'What of vile Dust?” the preacher said. What indeed, its existence readily discerned by its absence. Bit, though of course only a bit, like air: you can't see it but you do notice, briefly, if you are in a vacuum. As I have so often said, the inability of biology so far to identify Dust is actually not my problem; to say Dust doesn't exist because it can't be put in a test-tube is a cop-out; to say it is a religious invention is mad garbage: how can the questioning, the comparing, the referring to fact that destroys so much religion be a religious invention?
If mind does not exist, then democracy is unnecessary. Thus the Program.
Another conspiracy theory! you mutter gleefully. Good, good, you are learning. A swarm of tiny black helicopters with gauze wings buzz angrily against the windows of Senate House. Reductionists, obsessed equally with chimps and with religion, slaver as readily as any good God-fearin' fundy. Humans are not different. Mind is Christian superstition, dependent on the concept of a personal God. What an external god has to do with intellect and imagination is not explained. You can tell these are not educated people. But fi! we are but tools of the Illuminati intent on creating slaves to Voltaire.
The abolition of mind ends history, because history is an artefact of mind. The human experiment is over, apart from those sad deluded creatures who persist in reaching for the stars, and we have asylums for them. Die Weisse Rose describes a small group of German students who said no. They died of course. What shall we do? Light a candle, plant a tree? Forget complicity, grant ourselves absolution. We don't want no trouble here.
The reductionist stares myopically at the world and fumbles for the territorial imperatives of the fruit-fly to guide his or her understanding. If a chimp can't do it, it's a Christian superstition. The individual characteristics of honesty, reliability, intellect, verbal dexterity are annulled by biological equality. They are illusion, superstition. Only grubbing around on the forest-floor is real. Words cause friction, words impede the New World Order. The rudiments of language are required only for appeasement displays and the chest-beating of the head monkey.
Where there is no human capacity to redo the wiring, there is no liberty. Where there is no liberty, there is no responsibility - if you are not free to choose you cannot fairly be held to account for your actions. Scientific fundies deconstruct the West with their 'practical man's' contempt for all that makes us human. Can you synthesize a word? Can you grow an idea? Arf, arf, we are all good practical men here. Man is the tool-making ape. Education consists in learning to wield tools, a technical training. No training of the mind can take place because the mind does not exist. Since mind doesn't exist, 6000 years of its coping with the illusorily complex business of being human are meaningless. The only reality is the PPO and the particular head of your monkey-troop, the god meme being a particular threat. (Since the primate genetic reflex shuts off questioning the head monkey, s/he becomes endowed with qualities such as omniscience, omnipotence, goodness - hence of course the god meme itself.) Since mind etc etc, the new high priests are endowed with understanding of the entirety of the human condition via a grasp of cell biology. Those who have received a technical training are superior to those who can think, because of course learning to think, to analyse arguments, doesn't actually exist. There are no internal differences between individuals in ability (or volition, desire to learn). Some have had tool-wielding pasted onto their exteriors, others not.

Hallo, hallo, is there any life on this lump of rock? My name is Ford Prefect Serafina Pekkala and I have come to tell you you live in something called the universe and probably the multiverse
http://www.dillsplace.com/we-do-not-know1.html Oh, and you are something left behind by the Palaeolithic, I'm telling you that, too, but even on the third rock from the sun some people discuss the possibility of quantum immortality. This universe is a fascinating place and not much is known about it yet, except it's huge and weird. Possibly it might be described as the Mind of God. Certainly it is dauntingly huge and complex and people really don't need to get down on their knees to a sexually fixated product of your foetid imagination to be aware that they are small hairless apes of limited cosmic significance.
It does not seem likely the multiverse is defined by the sexual equipment of the human male.
Bon.
Un français qui arrive à Londres trouve les choses bien changées en philosophie comme dans tout le reste (2). Il a laissé le monde plein, il le trouve vide.
In London what was given in France had been turned on its head, having been subjected to question. Treating cancer with leeches, are you? You make no sense. I of course left an empty world and found myself in a full one: one in which everything is given, everything known by the frankly insane.
Should there not be some system for excluding the brain-dead from the University, the unlettered, the ignorant and ineducable, an entrance exam of general essay papers, a test of general knowledge?
I see by the way that Cambridge has reintroduced the entrance papers after 30 years and that Ardeshna graduated in 1990, suggesting he sat an entrance exam. Make that above some system that works.
Should medicine not be asked to go elsewhere, set up its own training-schools for what are essentially mechanics. They cannot possibly have any place in UCL.

THE CLOSED (SEALED/WOUNDED/STUNTED/PRACTICALLY NON-EXISTENT)
MIND
Grand-daughter of one of the earliest members of the Labour Party repeatedly brutally abused then left for dead at the express order of fascists and traitors, avatars of criminality, corruption and degradation. You may know them as doctors and nurses.
It is reasonably clear that if these people were questioned by any normal educated intelligent person in an open forum where their lunatic notions of Authority, the pathetic and diseased convictions of the psychotic that what they say goes because they say it, so disguising their inability to provide argument or fact supporting the argument and attempting feebly to disguise their rejection of and contempt for others' equal right to speak, they would come over as severely retarded, completely intellectually incapable.
But they can't be....So really what the fuck is wrong with them? Certainly fear addles minds. Certainly they are ruled by fear. Certainly fear may be inculcated in them, frightened of getting into trouble, frightened of going to hell. Certainly the fear also contains them internally, they identify themselves with what they believe and if they feel those beliefs threatened they fear they will disintegrate.
While the ceiling on thought imposed by a belief-system is of course arbitrary and the ceiling onthought imposed by biology is of course not, each represents a closed system. The Vatican/insert drug of choice/Vatican particularly among the religious but also of course Stalinism and Maoism drools that of course it upholds reason and means by that that the frame of reference, the boundaries of the system, the bricks in the wall are not to be questioned, all that may be 'questioned' are the elements in the box, though in fact this is not so much active questioning as a passive exercise in understanding how those elements fit together, because of course if and when the bricks are questioned the whole thing collapses, and so what is meant by 'reasoning' is understanding how what is given comes to be
Much learning of biology must necessarily be the same, understanding the mechanism by which A becomes B. The thinking is relational. Sounds good. Is it? Possibly even necessarily relational. Ooh, ooh. It is learning to understand how, how absolution works, how the liver functions, how the dictatorship of the proletariat leads to the withering away of the State. That in biology the bricks are real, you cannot challenge what a muscle cell does and adduce argument to demonstrate that actually it performs the functions of a platelet, does not I think affect the general process.
With regard to religion, the bricks are of course not there. Could I have said this before?
The Reformation was an expansion of thought beyond the entirely arbitrary limits set by the Vatican, as the Enlightenment and so the present day are expansions of thought beyond the bounds set by Christianity. Minds can go anywhere and where love and reason guide them the result is a vast improvement on anything before. Those in mental cages are going to have to grasp this.
Father De Mello was just the sort of sage, slightly mischievous, saintly humble old chap most
people would think of as the best of the Roman Catholic Church. At least the good Father had
been dead for nine years before the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (the Inquisition) denounced him as pernicious
De Mello of course stepped outside the cage, Dupuis another victim, the CDF censuring
‘ambiguities’, it being the duty of Catholic theologians to uphold not only the teaching of the
Church but, essentially, that there is no salvation outside the Church and everyone else is wrong.
What is currently in charge in Rome and what finds many ardent supporters throughout the Catholic world is not loveable; the New Internationalist has much to say about Cardinal Ratzinger.
The conservative religious male is firstly entirely deluded, about the universe, about the reality of individuals, especially female and gay ones, existing in a mind-construct of the world which, his delusion insists, is as depicted in a single book written in the distant past. Living in his own little world bounded by the dictates of Yahweh-Allah-Jehovah, he thinks he is better than those who do not share his delusion. Why he thinks he is better is because he kids himself he is surrendering ego to the dictates of the Yahweh-Allah-Jehovah as laid down in the book. His beliefs are a comprehensive exercise in stroking his ego, justifying wanton emotional needs, satisfying phobias. The forbidding of ‘blasphemy’ and ‘heresy’ protects him from anything he can’t cope with There are reasons for being kind to the mentally ill but these guys want their sickness deferred to, want the rest of us brain-dead, incapable of criticism, without the right to opinions of our own.
In February 2003 the South Place Ethical Society debated whether religion is a mental illness. If mental illness is divorce from reality, the religion of the orthodox is just that. Where the path of love leads to connection with reality, religion is not a mental illness. This, the Sufis understood, is the reality of Islam. Love is the ego-killer, the opener of the doors of perception, and must lead to seeing people as they are not as you think they are or demand they must be. Ratzinger is bad not mad when he says Buddhism is the new threat to the Church.

They think only within the given frame of reference because they can't bloody think. Seem to have said that before
There is a word in biology which escapes me for the moment, something to do with the relationship between parasite and host. Symbiosis, that's the one. Don't think it's the right word. More like getting a double dose of the same disease (homeopathy instantly discredited?). They think they're normal but their minds have never actually learned to work properly, if at all. They do not know how to stand upright mentally, how to function in a world the frame of reference of which is not fixed, where indeed the supposedly three-feet thick impenetrable walls are actually tissue-paper or not even there at all.
I suppose something like if you come from a home where nothing is questioned, where argument is frowned up, if not actively punished, where the whole of an entirely fake reality comes to you down the tit, where you learn not only that people are told what to think and accept it but people are told what is and accept that, where Authority gives you the facts and since you are not able to doubt them you never learn how to check them, it simply does not occur to you to doubt what you are told, if in short you were severely abused as a child, and never break out, never discover those nasty pernicious book-things and a multiplicity of ideas, multiplicity of different versions of reality, in short escape any real education at all, any broadening of the mind, you can still go into higher education and still escape any real education at all, any broadening of the mind, by becoming a doctor. Isolated from the rest of the university in medical schools, they never meet the philosophers, linguists, historians, classicists who would first teach them that actually everyone doesn't throw a fit and attempt to silence ideas he or she doesn't like, particularly perhaps that if the speaker is female, you don't injure her then treat her as a disobedient child because that's all women understand, we don't do that, then make mincemeat of them intellectually, not to mention expose their pathetic brutish ignorance and so they retain a completely delusional notion of their intellectual abilities and an unawareness as pathetic as it is sickening of their total brutish ignorance of all the things normal educated people know, and finally a madness which denies the existence of all the things normal educated people know and of course of any actual fact which conflicts with what Authority has told them. Authority gives them the facts and further graciously permits them to examine the relationship between the facts. They do not presume to think about anything they have not had permission to think about.
And so when the thickness mated to the ignorance and the madness and of course the ego are confronted they scream the place down, I'm mad, etc, etc. Tough shit, Doctor, tough shit. And all they can do is beat me up and suppress the most basic of facts.
All of which I basically said years ago:
Mind sits anterior to data. Mind sits anterior to data, questioning, synthesizing, comparing, creating and of course checking on the reality quotient.. The upper level of mentation, the capacity to select, order, analyse, question and synthesize information and that faculty called imagination which breaks down what is into its constituent parts and remakes it as something new in the world, has been denied. Call it the upper storey. They do not visit the top floor. This is what I mean by the abolition of intellect (have to spell these things out for the brain-washed). They can function, so far as they can be said to function intellectually at all, only within a given frame of reference. They are incapable of handling questioning of the frame of reference. Indeed they are the brightest stars in the University's firmament. Mind is evident in the world. Religious freaks call it the work of the devil and commie freaks call it insanity
http://www.dillsplace.com/the-great-university-education-scam.html
My body has been wrecked. My life has been derailed. I have not been imprinted with a fake
reality. Therefore I am held to be mad.
Message received loud and clear: “Just shut the fuck up, cunt, and stop pretending to be a man. You have no significance whatever. Of course you have no intellectual significance but you have no significance as a human being, you're just a piece of property that can be knocked around by
us.”
Symbiosis. It's so wonderfully vile, these sick wounded creatures feeding off the University, gaining their credibility from the University.
The enemy, as I have so very, very, very, very often pointed out, is not me (though being entirely mad they probably believe that the whole of human thought, clearly my own sick invention, will vanish if I do). The enemy is reality, the reality of millions of different individuals, each with his or her own take on the world, the reality of the whole of human thought and the multiplicity of views on life, the universe and everything, the reality of the universe or multiverse
Thus the damaged flock to medicine like flies to a rubbish-dump, its being the only place they can use what remains of their brains. That doesn’t mean they have to infest the University. They live in a world that exists solely in their heads and some very, very evil people are determined not only that they should stay there, on no account are they to be required to accept fact and reason, expected to express their views in the open where they may be heard by everyone and freely challenged, or in any other way behave like civilized human beings, but that the rest of us should exist in their fantasy world, accept it as unchallengeable reality, or be beaten or prosecuted.
Gosh, I’ve got so much to say. And, on the whole, I say it so well. They probably hate that as much as anything. Literacy, articulacy are not required of the slaves. No-one may say or do anything. How obvious.
If the University is to continue to be populated with ignorant irrational ineducable and brutish animals because, oh how sweet, they want to be doctors and help people, then it must enact its own ‘First Amendment’ to ensure its survival. The demand of the animal for ‘safe space’ must be met with ridicule.

Some Interesting Facts
The first university in England to admit students of any race, class or religion, and the
first to welcome women on equal terms with men.
Students from outside London, and from overseas, present from the start.
A teaching programme was established in which religious beliefs would not constrain the
dissemination of knowledge and exploration of ideas.
Academic disciplines introduced as required by the emerging industrial and commercial
society; the first English university to offer the systematic teaching of law, architecture
and medicine. http://www.ucl.ac.uk/profile/175years.html/
